Goodbye Raggedy Man & Thank You!

The BBC just blew up the internet with the announcement that Matt Smit will be leaving Doctor Who after this year's Christmas special.

Everyone attending SDCC better get in line for H Hall NOW in order to get into the final Doctor Who panel that Matt will be attending.  Add in the 50th Anniversary madness and Doctor Who is going to be TAKING OVER San Diego Comic Con this year.
I was already planning on doing my 11th Doctor Every Day Cosplay, but NOW I have to save it until Sunday when {most likely not confirmed} the Doctor Who panel will be.

Now what time should we start lining up?!  Last year for the Firefly 10th anniversary reunion we lined up at 2 a.m. and had good seats.  I'm thinking it might have to be a bit earlier for Doctor Who.  Maybe around midnight?!  I will probably just gage the line before leaving on Saturday.  Run home for a quick shower/dinner/change of clothes, grab a sleeping bag and run back to the con!  This WILL be my one camp out for the con.

I am defiantly on the newer side of the Doctor Who fandom.  I started watching in November of 2012. I loved 9, then fell hard for 10 and worried I wasn't going to like 11.  But Matt Smith changed my mind!  He is so likable and funny {in person and as the Doctor}, I love how he plays the Doctor.  I thought he had some of the BEST episodes of the re-boot and he and the Ponds were amazing together.

It is going to be surreal seeing my first Doctor exit in real time.  We all knew it was going to happen soon, but it was really quite a shock.  I wish Matt all the best and here are some of my choices for the 12th Doctor:

*Benedict Cumberbatch
{though would rather him stay with Sherlock if he had to choose}
*Daniel Radcliffe
*Hugh Laurie
*Rupert Grint
{finally a ginger!}
*David Tennant
{a fan girl can dream right?!}

Who would you love to see as the next Doctor?!  Feel free to share your many many feels in the comment section or tweet me so we can feel together :)

  1. Unfortunately, none of the ones you listed could play the Doctor (they always choose a relative unknown), but otherwise Daniel Radcliffe would've been one of my choices too. :}
    When I first heard the news, I was very upset. However, as I think about it I'm beginning to come to terms with it. I'm on the newer side of the fandom as well, and since this will be my first regeneration, I think it will be exciting to meet the new Doctor, see what catch-phrases, companions, and costumes he brings, and to see where the show goes.
    (I'm still gonna miss Matt Smith. D:)

  2. I agree with Elizabeth ^^ I even just wrote a blog post myself (http://tinyurl.com/n8hup4l) about how the prospects being rumored about aren't valid candidates. I mean, I'd love to see Colin Morgan make his way back to my favorite British TV show. =)
    I'm sad Matt's leaving, but I was sad when Tennant left too. As I've said before on a few other posts, it seemed like Matt's Doctor's journey had come to an end. With the Trenzalore episode, it kinda solidified that. I'm incredibly curious to see who they find to play the Doctor. I'm also interested to see where Moffat brings the character. We've had serious, silly and cold, what next?

  3. I totally agree that Matt Smith had some of the best scenes and episodes of the Doctor Who reboot. It'll be sad to see him go, but I've actually been thinking that it feels like it's time for a change! I'm sure I'll be rewatching the 11th Doctor episodes a lot in the future, though. Definitely my favorite Doctor.

    I hope they choose a fairly unknown actor to replace Matt. I do like the idea of Rupert Grint... or maybe a woman, which would be hard to get used to but needs to happen soon, in my opinion! =)
