What we’re listening to: February
Here at The Nerdy Girlie we geek out about a lot of things including music. These artists have been soundtracking our lives lately.
Strong female lead. Pure rock n’ roll. Great music and bands make you feel something when you listen to them. If you listen to Nico Vega and don’t feel like you can suddenly take on the world, well, I’m pretty sure you’re dead inside. Their new EP features some incredible belters. Bioshock Infinite players might be familiar with their song “Beast”:
Check out Nico Vega’s new EP Fury Oh Fury
Standout tracks: Beast, Fury Oh Fury, We Are the Art
*This band is a force of nature live – they are touring now – go see them!
Singer/songwriter…amazing storyteller. Indie folk rocker. This Manchester, England native has so much soul and his new album Wishbone is a blend of folk, country, and bluesy rock.
Standout tracks: Devil Moon, In Your Way, All My Brothers
Currently having a love affair with this Oxford, England quartet. Their latest album Sand & Snow was released in June of 2012. Two amazing singles “Danny, Dakota & The Wishing Well” and “Harbour Lights” have been generating momentum for the band ever since. The band is currently on tour and these guys are a pure joy to watch on stage. Their lead singer, Robert Stevenson, belts out anthems with so much charisma and moments later can bring an audience to a hush when the band slows things down. Spencer Walker aka The Worlds Nicest Drummer provides driving beats and backing vocals. Karl Bareham on guitar and bassist Ali Hussain are the strong/ silent members during their live performances, but there is no mistaking that they are the glue that holds the songs together.
Standout tracks: Danny, Dakota & The Wishing Well, Harbour Lights, Reaching The Potential
*Check out their debut album A City That Sleeps too and go see them on tour NOW…everyone here at The Nerdy Girl is!
